Newman Water Polo Players Association

City Beach District Schools Competition winners 2008/09

SILVER

Newman 1 Boys.

Welcome everyone to a new season of junior water polo at Newman Water Polo Players Association. Newman Water Polo is for boys and girls from year 4 to year 7 with good swimming ability to play games at Challenge Stadium on Saturday mornings. Training is Thursdays after school at Newman Pool.

Newman Water Polo players Association is made up of children from Newman College and it’s 6 feeder schools Holy Rosary, Holy Spirit, St John’s, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Our Lady of Grace and St Dominic’s. We play against other teams which are made up from other schools in the surrounding area and play in 2 categories.

Firstly, a modified game called Flipper Ball for beginners to the game, usually year 4 to year 5.

Secondly, the District Schools Competition for years 6 and 7 who compete more seriously with the introduction of rules and the chance to playoff in the grand final for a gold medal or silver medal.

Water Polo is a fantastic sport which encourages strong swimming ability and overall fitness whilst having fun in a team environment.

The Club had a very successful first year with 3 flipper ball teams being formed. In the district competition we had 3 girls’ teams participating with 1 winning gold and the other coming runner up with silver. We also collected a silver medals for our boys’ team. Fantastic effort!!

So come on down and experience the fun and excitement of playing water polo for Newman. Feel free to bring your friends along and make up a team. Mum or Dad may even like to coach?

As for the parents what better way watching your son/daughter play water polo whilst sitting around the pool on a beautiful summers day sipping coffee.

We hope you like our website and its links. A huge thank-you to our extremely talented committee  Adele Sangster (Vice President), Alison O’Farrell (Treasurer), Kylie Newton (Secretary).

Look forward to seeing you all on pool deck for              the season 2009!
